Fourth Generation: Robert Warner < [First name unknown] Warner < William Warner < William Warner
My 1st cousin 4 times removed
Robert Warner was the grandson of William Warner and Hannah Benson. His parents’ names are unknown. He was born in England, probably in Yorkshire, on February 17, 1827.
He married Hannah Dawson in Montreal on July 10, 1848. They were both 21. They had six children (according to his obituary) but I have only found information about four of them:
- William John D. Warner
- Maria Jane Benson Warner
- Emma Milcha Clifford Warner
- Ellen C. Warner
Robert died on March 27, 1892. According to his obituary, it was in Rock Creek, Oregon, but his death certificate says it was in Mill City. He was buried at Greenwood Hills Cemetery in Portland. You can visit his grave, virtually, here.
Notes
Robert’s connection to our branch of the Warner family is proven by DNA evidence. My father and I share DNA sequences in common with a great granddaughter of Robert’s brother James. For a fuller explanation please refer the entry for Robert and James’s father and to the post below.
Robert gave one of his daughters “Benson” as a middle name. This reinforces the hypothesis that he was a grandson of William Warner and Hannah Benson.
