Marie-José Charlotte Françoise Forgues was the daughter of Joseph Alexandre Arthur Forgues (1892–1961) and his wife Marguerite Gratton (1897–1965). She was born in Montreal on November 10, 1923.

Marie-José died in car accident in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, on January 5, 1975, at the age of 51. She was buried at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery in Montreal, where she shares a grave with her mother.
