Maria was the daughter of Robert Warner and his wife Hannah Dawson. She was born in Montreal on Jun 18, 1851.
She married Peter Hobkirk in 1869. They had the following children:
- Hannah Maria Hobkirk
- Lillian E. Hobkirk
- Florence S. Hobkirk
- Frederick Peter Hobkirk
Maria died in Portland, Oregon on November 26, 1942, at the age of 91. She was entombed at the Portland Mausoleum.
Notes
Maria was the great granddaughter of William Warner and Hannah Benson. The first name of her grandfather, their son, is unknown.
The link to our branch of the Warner family, and Maria’s descent from William and Hannah, is confirmed by DNA matching (see the post below). It is also confirmed by her second middle name, “Benson,” which she was presumably given in honour of her great grandmother, Hannah.
Her being given that middle name also helps to confirm the descent of all her father‘s descendants and those of her uncle, James Warner, from William and Hannah.
