George Rawes Fawcett was the son of Edward Fawcett (1825–1907) and his wife Elizabeth Rawes (1825–1905). He was born in Stouffville, Ontario about 1860.

George died in Parry Sound, Ontario on January 6, 1928, at the age of 68. He was buried at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto.
