1816–?

Elizabeth Roberts (or Robarts) Warner was probably the daughter of William Warner and his wife Hannah Benson.* She was born about 1816 and baptized in Howden, Yorkshire on July 24, 1816.1 2 We can’t be sure her parents are the right William and Hannah Warner, because the baptismal record did not give her mother’s maiden name.

Because of this uncertainty, I have decided to document Elizabeth’s existence on this page, but not to include her in the list of confirmed children on William’s page.

In the Warner family’s entry in the 1831 Census of Lower Canada, when they were living in Frampton, only the head of household is identified by name, but other individuals are listed by age grouping and gender. Elizabeth would have been about 15 at the time, and no girls that age are living with the family.

No further information about her has been found.

Notes

* The source for this information is a transcription of a handwritten baptismal record from Howden, Yorkshire. The record says that Elizabeth was the daughter of William Warner and his wife Hannah (no maiden name given). Howden was not a large town, and nothing has been found to suggest that it was home to more than one couple named William and Hannah Warner. Elizabeth’s middle name was transcribed as “Robarts” but it was probably “Roberts,” given that Roberts was a name that already ran in the Warner family. Elizabeth’s uncle was John Roberts Warner.
