Bessie Marguerite Larkin was the daughter of Hannah Maria Warner and Charles Arter Larkin, and was born on November 18, 1890 in Brandon, Manitoba. Although “Bessie” is the name on the official record of her birth, it was as “Bess” that she was known throughout her life.
She married Frederick Broughton Housser in Toronto on February 12, 1914. They had no children and were later divorced, in Reno, Nevada, in 1934.
She married Lawren Stewart Harris in 1934. They had no children.
Bess died on September 28, 1969 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was buried, beside her husband Lawren, at the burial grounds of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg, Ontario.
